A family member or friend just moved into their new home. It is appropriate to bring a housewarming gift at your first visit.
A housewarming gift could be anything from an item off the couple’s bridal registry (if still available) to a themed basket. If you know them well, it could be a beautiful clock for their kitchen, or a gorgeous vase for their living-room mantle. If the gift is for a new neighbour than perhaps a plant or a bottle of wine is the way to go.
Either way, a housewarming gift is very thoughtful way to say “congratulations” or “welcome to the neighbourhood”.
You could also contact the Welcome Wagon, a free service in your city, to visit the couple and provide them with information about the community and gifts from local businesses.
